An Important Notice for Businesses Operating Online

E-commerce and the provision of services through digital channels continue to expand, creating significant opportunities for entrepreneurs and businesses. However, online commercial activities are subject to the same legal and regulatory requirements as any other form of economic activity.

All businesses that sell products or provide services online are required to complete the registration process and obtain a valid Business Registration Certificate no later than 31 October 2026.

Compliance Inspections Commencing on 1 November 2026

Effective 1 November 2026, the competent authorities will commence inspections of online businesses and postal service operators to verify compliance with applicable legal requirements.

This applies to businesses conducting activities through:

  • Social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.);
  • Online sales and marketplace platforms;
  • Websites and web-based applications; and
  • Other forms of electronic commerce.

Why Is Formalization Important?

The formalization of business activities provides a number of important benefits, including:

✅ Compliance with applicable laws and regulations
✅ Enhanced credibility and trust among customers and business partners
✅ Stronger consumer protection
✅ Greater transparency in the marketplace
✅ Fair and sustainable competition among businesses

Take Timely Action

Businesses that have not yet completed the registration process are encouraged to take the necessary steps without delay to ensure compliance before the commencement of inspections.

Businesses should not wait until the final deadline. Ensuring compliance within the prescribed timeframe will help avoid potential administrative and regulatory consequences.
